For long term trips (8 – 12 weeks)
Registration, administration and training for these are managed through our partner Tearfund. Also note the following…
- The Go MAD in Tanzania programme is a 3 month and not a 4 month programme due to Tanzanian Visa restrictions. Keep this in mind as all the Tearfund literature refers to the 4 month programmes.
Please see the apply now section of the Tearfund website here. In the ‘choice’ field select which long term trip you wish to apply for. e.g the 3 month Tanzania trip would be “Go Mad Tanz 3m Apr 2012″ Or for a October 2 month trip to Kenya choose “2m Oct Go Mad Kenya” The options in the drop down lists should be constantly updated to reflect the trips on offer from us and Tearfund. If you can’t find the option you’re looking for contact us here.
You should get a response from Tearfund with the following steps:
- Receive a full application form from Tearfund.
- Print off and fill in the application form, and pass on the reference forms to your referees.
- Ask your pastor or church leader to complete and return one reference form to us. The other should be completed and returned to us by a work supervisor or tutor. We need these returned to us before we can offer you a place.
- Send in the application form together with two passport photos, a black and white photocopy of the photo page from your passport and a £50 deposit (non-refundable). Please make cheques payable to Tearfund.
- Await an invitation for one of the interview and briefing events.
- Once the selection/interview event has been held, we will contact you to say whether we can offer you a place on the programme (this is provisional and subject to orientation and also medical clearance).
- Once you have accepted this provisional place you will be invited to an orientation/training week for the team you are provisionally placed on. This event acts as a final selection process and also a chance for you to explore over the week if this thing is really for you. At the orientation we will give you a detailed preparation pack, telling you all you need to know and do to get ready to go.
- To confirm your place on the programme, you need to send us a further deposit after the orientation to pay for your airfare. Again this is non-refundable in the event of you deciding not to travel.
- Do everything required in order to get ready (checklist and dates are given in the preparation pack you will receive at orientation).
- Complete your payment for the trip one month prior to leaving.
- Change lives – both yours and other people’s.
