Registration, administration and training for Go Mad in Tanzania, is managed through our partner Tearfund. See How to Apply - Four Month Programme on the Tearfund (Transform) website for detailed information. Also note the following ...

  • The Go MAD in Tanzania programme is a 3 month and not a 4 month programme due to Tanzanian Visa restrictions. Keep this in mind as all the Tearfund literature refers to the 4 month programmes.
  • Applications for the 2009 programme are now open; and the application deadline is 30th September 2008.
  • The Tearfund - Transform website can be found here Transform Website.

Here’s your step-by-step to joining the Go Mad in Tanzania 2009 programme ...

  1. Download the Application pack. This contains the application form, reference forms and small print document. The 2008 application forms are OK to use.
  2. Print off and fill in the application form, and pass on the reference forms to your referees.
  3. Contact your referees. Ask your pastor or church leader to complete and return to us one reference form. The other should be completed and returned to us by a work supervisor or tutor. We need these returned to us before we can offer you a place.
  4. Send in the application form together with two passport photos, a black and white photocopy of the photo page from your passport and a £50 deposit (Non refundable). Please make cheques payable to Tearfund.
  5. Await an invitation for one of the interview and briefing events and then confirm that you can come.
  6. Once the selection/interview event has been held, we will contact you to say whether we can offer you a place on the programme (this is provisional and subject to orientation and also medical clearance).

Once you have accepted this provisional place you will be invited to an orientation/training week for the team you are provisionally placed on. This event acts as a final selection process and also a chance for you to explore over the week if this thing is really for you.

At the orientation we will give you a detailed preparation pack, telling you all you need to know and do to get ready to go.
  7. To confirm your place on the programme, you need to send us a further deposit after the orientation to pay for your airfare.

You must tell us if you decide not to travel. If you decide not to travel you may loose your deposit, see the FAQs page- If I decide not to travel will I lose my deposit? for more information.
  8. Do everything required in order to get ready (checklist and dates are given in the Preparation Pack).
  9. Pay the balance of your trip one month prior to departure.
  10. Change lives: yours and other people’s.
